[ By the time Vriska finds Raven by the huts, she's just kind of ... feeling tired. She looks it, too, to some small extent. ]

[ Somber, no laughing or mocking. Not in the mood she's in, and more importantly, not for Raven. ]

Walk with me?

[ Somewhere. Anywhere. She's feeling restless. ]

[When she sees Vriska, she waits for her to speak, and nods to her question.]

Mind if we walk slow?

[She's been walking more than she's used to, checking for people both last night and tonight. Her leg is killing her, but she knows that's nothing compared to the other kinds of pain some of the islanders must be experiencing tonight. She thinks of Akira, and of every lie she's told him today and yesterday.]

What? Oh, fuck! Haha, there goes stupid Vriska again, being a thoughtless bitch! Whoops. I'm so forgetful! Do you want to sit down? We don't have to walk!

[ There is a weird tension to her voice. It is mostly the sound of self-loathing. ]

...I can still walk.

[There was a time when that might have been spoken much more defensively. Now, it's meant to be placating. She isn't upset.]

[ But if Raven wants to walk, they'll walk. Vriska wraps her arms around her body in what is probably an obvious defensive gesture. ]

Bluh. This wasn't even supposed to be about me! I came to check on you. Today was a pretty long day!

I've had people say worse.

[She starts to walk, and though it's slower than normal for her, she doesn't complain.]

...Nice of you, but I'm fine. Sucks that I have to room with the guy whose friend I just watched get slaughtered, but he hasn't caught on so far.

[ Vriska keeps pace beside her. She doesn't even seem antsy. Pretty much entirely for Raven's sake. ]

Right. Akira. He put on a hell of a show at the trial today! I think I did a pretty good job putting up with his crap. [ sounds genuinely proud of herself?? ] I don't envy you having to live with him! Then again, he will probably just start keeping it all to himself pretty soon if he hasn't already.

[ .... ]

These Chiefs were absolutely not fucking around, huh. We're going to start killing innocent people, and then killing more innocent people that we're framing for the crime.

I can't really blame him. Seemed like he cared about her a lot... I wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

[She would have been even more furious than he was if anything happened to Bellamy, after all.]

Yeah, we are. I've had to kill more people than this, though. I can deal with it as long as we're saving every single person we can.

Mgh. I know. It's not like I think he was faking it. I'm sure he was every bit as fucked up as he was acting! But it wasn't really helpful. Or, like, maybe from our perspective, it was? Whatever.

[ sIGH. ]

Yeah. That is pretty much how I feel about it. Hal is just ... [ a sudden laugh ] I can't act like I wasn't expecting it, but he is brutal. That speech he gave at the end was pretty much designed to fuck everybody up as much as possible.

It's hard to think about things like helpful and not helpful when you're mourning that kind of loss.

[A sigh of her own.]

The angrier people are at him, specifically, the easier it'll be for us to skate by. It's been distracting them, so I almost hope it stays that way.

Meh. [ shrug. ]

... no kidding. It's a shame we can't keep pinning things on him and Pal! Sure would make our lives easier. I wonder if they'd let us frame them as part of a murder? Haha.
