[week five - wednesday]
[ The beach has become something of a familiar haunt for them. Honestly, Vriska had thought she'd be having these moments with Raven; her partner in crime, her steadfast support until Raven started making stupid mistakes that culminated in her disappearance. And then Bellamy was there instead; Bellamy with the same fire as Raven, the same pain haunting his eyes, made of harder edges and shorter sentences.
Vriska likes him. Truly, sincerely, honestly likes him. He is the only person left on the island she even remotely wants to spend time with. And even if that weren't the case, there are some things she ought to tell him.
So when she finds him watching the waves as sunset fades into twilight, Vriska will come up to join him at his side.
And, with no hesitation, she'll reach out to take one of her hands in his, weaving their fingers together. ]
It's all going to end this weekend, Bellamy. For better or worse, it'll be over.

Thank fuck! Bellamy, I can't tell you how relieved I am to hear that. [ She'll flash him a smile, tired but bright. ] I knew I chose the right person. You are something special.
When is she coming for me?
no subject
She's not. I am.
no subject
And then she'll bow her head a little, her smile close lipped and very bittersweet. ]
Good. If I had to choose, I'd want it to be you. I mean, Lucina is fine, I guess? I just don't really know her. [ Discussing her own death as casually as you might the weather. ] So when are we doing this? Tonight? Tomorrow?

[He gives her hand a little tug, trying to get her to look up at him again. The utter cruelty of this isn't lost on him—it's unfair, that this is the way to end things, that Vriska has been roped into it for no reason at all, but Raven's letter only made him more sure. He's clinging to the hope that by doing this, he's fixing things. It doesn't make it any easier.]
I'm sorry, Vriska. You don't deserve this.

Trust me, Bellamy, I have had way worse deaths than the one you'll be giving me. To be honest, as fucked up as it sounds, it's nice that I get to die on my own terms, for once?
[ She'll glance at him, her eyes hooding slightly as her eyebrows creep up into her hair. ]
Anyway, let's be real, I pretty much do. I tortured two people to death! And I have gotten up to more than my fair share of nasty sneaky schemes. I lied to Jinah, I used Jacopo and Yona and Lief, I've manipulated pretty much anybody stupid enough to trust me. I let Battler die for me! I have committed plenty of reprehensible crimes at this point. You are the only person who knows the whole truth. And to be honest, I prefer it that way! I'll die a monster in the eyes of these people. I decided at the very beginning that I would be fine with that if it meant saving their lives.
no subject
You didn't have a choice, and as soon as you figured out the truth, you told me. You're not a monster. You're saving all of us.
[Still, she's just a kid.]
I wish there was a better way.
no subject
No one else will see it that way, except probably Raven. Because you two know what it's like to have to make the tough choices! You know as well as I do most of the rest of the villagers aren't going to forgive me when they learn what I did to Lelouch and Shinji. I told Jinah the whole truth yesterday and she was pretty devastated. And if I'm honest with myself, I deserve no less than her anger!
This is fine, Bellamy. [ She squeezes his hand, looking up at him with a firm smile. ] It's better this way.
no subject
Then they're idiots. You don't deserve any of this.
no subject
What is it with you people and hugs?
[ But with a sigh she'll loop her arms loosely around him. ]
... can you kill me in a cool way? Like a bullet to the head, or a spectacular explosion. If I am going to go down, I may as well do it awesomely.
no subject
Whatever the hell you want.
[There's something shaky and vulnerable in the way he says it, something he can't quite rein in.]
It'll be quick, I promise.
no subject
Don't -- don't get all gross on me, you dweeb! If all goes well, you should be seeing me again pretty soon anyway, when you guys succeed at bringing us all back. And I know you will, Bellamy. I have complete faith in you.
[ her arms curl around him a little tighter. ]
... even if I still think your face is dumb.
no subject
Is there anything else you can tell me? How do I know we're doing this right?
[What if they don't come back?]
no subject
... the only thing I don't know is what actually happens when all the Sirens finally die. Like, the actual procedure for bringing everyone back. I guess we will all find out.
no subject
[He pulls back, keeping his hands on her shoulders.]
I won't let you die, Vriska.
no subject
You know the weirdest part is I actually believe you? This must be what friendship with someone who isn't a wishy washy backstabbing asshole is like.
[ Vriska gestures loosely, grinning at him in that toothy, spidery way of hers. ]
This will be my third time getting killed, you know. But maybe this time I will really make it count.
no subject
Three times? What are you talking about?
