How did I inconvenience you if you weren't worried about me? Did you need me for something?

FROM: brooksjr.barnaby@cdc.org

Like clockwork, I suppose. Are you alright?

Shut up about it? Why would I, when I have the perfect opportunity to make fun of you?

[ More importantly, however, is that last text of hers. ]

That can't be easy, especially if you had close relationships with them before.

FROM: brooksjr.barnaby@cdc.org

Are you certain that you will be alright?

[ For now, he'll put the teasing aside in order to focus on her other issues. It feels more important right now to help Vriska and give her the support that she needs (whether she openly admits to it or not is another story). Barnaby doesn't expect her to acknowledge it, but she doesn't need to. ]

Why do you feel as though you're being left behind? If you don't mind me asking.

I hope that you don't truly believe you haven't become a better person since then.

A willingness to do whatever is necessary is not defined solely by the sacrifice that one is willing to make.

FROM: brooksjr.barnaby@cdc.org

It doesn't have to be a life. It can be many other things. I don't think you're as unwilling as you think you are to make a difference.

You don't have to be a hero to be a good person.

FROM: brooksjr.barnaby@cdc.org

In my world, being a hero is only a title. Embodying the ideals of such a figure is a completely different issue.

By what definition aren't you a good person? I'd be interested to know.

Very well. If that's what you truly desire.

Other people are welcome to their own perceptions, just as I am welcome to mine.

I'm not sure that being asleep for a week suddenly excuses me from anything.

FROM: brooksjr.barnaby@cdc.org

In any case, I'll leave it at that. I'm not here to lecture you on how you should be feeling. I'd only intended to offer an alternative perspective.
